Thanks to our loyal readers and advertisers, Eugene Weekly has endured where other newspapers have struggled.

Together with the advertisers who support us, we have hit a rough patch during the COVID-19 pandemic. This free alternative paper relies on entertainment and event advertising and with the cancellation of almost all events, not to mention closures and cutbacks to restaurants, bars and universities our revenue has plummeted. But the Weekly is in it for the long haul.

Your contribution, or your purchase of a T-shirt or subscription goes directly toward printing pages and keeping this paper alive and in your hands.

Support the Eugene Weekly

As the pandemics hit the one year mark, we feel optimistic about the end being in sight. Still Eugene Weekly relies on advertising revenue almost entirely to pay our staff and overhead. As you know, many of these business we rely on like event and restaurant advertising among others have been almost fully curtailed during the last year.

If you can, support Lane County’s foremost source of news arts and culture. We have been serving the Eugene & Springfield area for going on 40 years now.

Support Local and Vocal Journalism

Good journalism takes dedication and digging. It requires long hours, hard work and passion. And it takes money. As our mission has grown at Eugene Weekly, and with the ongoing social, political and economic stresses of COVID-19, we want to ask for your help.

Corporate giants have taken over traditional news outlets here and elsewhere around the country. That means independent, locally owned newspapers such as Eugene Weekly have assumed a much larger role as a watchdog for democracy.

We are a free paper, and we don’t have a paywall on our website. With the help of a loyal group of advertisers, we provide our news, calendar and entertainment. Unlike most other newspapers, EW’s owners take no profit from the paper.

EW relies on our small-but-mighty staff, but we also feature the work of many of Lane County’s best freelancers and student journalists. We don’t plan on going away, but as the coronavirus drags on, we could use your help.

You can support EW by just picking up a paper, supporting our advertisers and telling them you saw their ad “in the Weekly.” You can even offer to take out an ad for nonprofits and businesses you love.

You can also support us with a monetary contribution that goes directly to supporting our journalism.

With your help we will continue to give you our weekly print newspaper full of great local journalism, fun features and thoughtful arts and entertainment coverage. And of course your crossword and Sudoku.

We are not a nonprofit, so your contributions are not tax deductible.

Please support local journalism. Your contributions go directly to supporting and printing the paper.

  • $20 could help EW make public records requests
  • $50 could help us buy that (spendy) recycled paper we print on
  • $100 or more can fund investigative journalism
